Today's Decision

I really enjoy shopping at my little shops.

I love walking in and the shop keeper knowing things about my life.  I like knowing what they were cooking for Christmas dinner.  I like that they remember what I bought last time and why I bought it and they ask how the product worked out.  I like that they can see on my face if I'm having a home-sick day.  On particularly lonely or frustrating days, they brighten up my life.

But yesterday, I had a bad experience.  A shop keeper (where I had never been before) crushed my spirit.

I walked away thinking how in America, you don't go to the store and walk out with a different countenance.  In America, you can breeze in and out without being noticed. But that's not always true, is it?  There are times when people are rude.  And there are times when people lift you up. And the truth is that I can be one way or the other in my influence of other peoples' lives.

Recently, my friend answered the question: What's the biggest decision you are going to make today?  with  I will have to decide if I am going to treat my children kindly.  It's a decision that we all have to make with everyone who comes across our path.
