If ever my students are talking while I'm teaching, I assume that something is wrong: a pencil is on the floor and one student is telling the owner, or someone has two erasers and should only have one so he is trying to figure out where the extra one belongs... something like that. Although it sounds simple to an adult this can be very disturbing for a little kid. I try to address a situation quickly so we can all get back to work. When Bedjina was talking this morning I asked her, "Is there a problem?" "No," she said shrugging her shoulders, "I was just talking to Hans."
